Notes From The Valley

A Book.

Released Dec 2023

Every Sunday Lynn Ferguson writes a note to the Universe.

Each note is a written interpretation of the calls she used to have with her mother every Sunday at 2pm Cumbernauld time.

“I realized that I missed the way I used to feel about the world when I used to call my Mum: That there was an order to things: That even when I didn’t particularly know where I was going, the world was a good place, where scary things happen from time to time, but mostly everything turns out alright.”

This book is the first year of notes.

Reviews and Quotes

“Lynn Ferguson’s great talent as a writer and storyteller is her uncanny ability to offer her audience, through an often seemingly simple narrative, a glimpse into a wider, more universal truth about the complicated and confounding business of just getting on with things. Where others might see an ordinary and predictable landscape, Lynn finds hidden wonders and unsung miracles, thus making us all richer for it”

Alfred Molina, Actor

“Lynn is real, raw, and will make you both laugh and cry.”

Deadline News

“A woman who weaves yarns about her own experience and that of others, in pursuit of the deep realities that shape our lives.

The Scotsman Newspaper

“Beautiful, wry, mature, life-affirming”

Financial Times

“Rarely have I laughed, wept, and acknowledged such beautiful observations and empathy contained within such wise words.”

Gavin Mitchell, Actor

“I look forward to Sundays, not because it’s normally a day off, or breakfast in bed, or a nice lie-in. No. Because the weekly edition of ‘Notes From The Valley’ reaches my inbox and regularly makes my day.”

Chesney Hawkes, Musician

“Both harrowing and hilarious”

Newsweek

“She helps us laugh at ourselves while working out how to move through the world with more courage and kindness. And now she’s put it all down in a book: what a gift”

Catherine Burns, Artistic Director THE MOTH

About the Author

Lynn Ferguson is a self-confessed Entertainment Mongrel hailing from the picturesque Scottish hamlet of Cumbernauld in Scotland. Writer, performer, and all-round show-off, she now lives in the San Fernando Valley in California with her husband, Mark Tweddle, and two sons Fergus and Lachlan. They have one dog, Arthur, 10 chickens, and about 40000 bees. Lynn is most likely to be known for her voice as ‘Mac’ in the Chicken Run movies, but also known for her theatrical plays, one-woman shows, and TV appearances. She has awards and other accolades but she always changes the subject if you ever mention them.
